Village Halls and Greens
Sawley Village Hall
Situated behind the village green and 100m from the Sawley Arms, the village hall was the village school until 1989. When the school closed the village raised money to modernise and extend the building which then opened as the new village hall in 1995.
The main hall measures approximately 7.5m x 14.5m. Recently refurbished, it is a light and airy space with a seating capacity of 100. In addition to the hall, users have access to a kitchen, again, recently refurbished, and a committee room.
Both the hall and committee room are available for hire. A bar is available if required for events and this is run by the village hall committee.

Sawley Village Green
Sawley Village Green is situated in the centre of the village in front of the village hall. Historically, the green was common grassland with a pond for watering cattle and other stock
Owned by the Parish Council, the village green is a protected space under Section 12 of the Enclosure Act of 1857. Grass cutting, and the maintenance of trees, park furniture and play equipment is funded by the Parish Council. Please report any concerns to the Parish Clerk at [email protected]
The village green provided, and still provides, an open-air meeting place for local people and a space for community events and public celebrations. As a community asset, the Parish Council is happy to give general permission for these activities, and for its use in conjunction with private gatherings being held at the village hall.
